Gallup, NM - Saddles were won, buckles were presented, and scholarships were awarded as the 6th Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo concluded on July 3rd at Red Rock Park in Gallup, New Mexico. A total of 835 contestants from the United States, Canada, and Australia competed in this year’s Finals. Performances were featured throughout the week of June 27th, with the top twenty athletes in each event qualifying for the championship round on Saturday, July 3rd. Event champions and All-Around winners include:
All-Around Cowboy: Brady Norman - Springer , Oklahoma All-Around Cowgirl: Torey Little - Hackberry, Louisiana All-Around Rookie Cowboy: Brady Norman - Springer , Oklahoma All-Around Rookie Cowgirl: Sissy Winn - Chapman Ranch, Texas Barrel Racing: Cayla Melby - Backus, Minnesota Girls Breakaway Roping: Brandi Hollenbeck - Hutchinson, Kansas Boys Breakaway Roping: Brady Norman - Springer , Oklahoma Chute Dogging: Dakota Durfee - Salina, Utah Tie-Down Roping: Case Jones - Gatesville, Texas Boys Goat Tying: Tyson Arledge - Milano, Texas Girls Goat Tying: Jessica Gray - Sparr, Florida Junior Bull Riding: Luke Wicks - Tamworth, Australia Pole Bending: Sissy Winn - Chapman Ranch, Texas Ribbon Roping: Quinton Inman - Ketchum, Oklahoma Taci Owens - Ketchum, Oklahoma Team Roping: Trevor Kirchenschlager - Yuma, Colorado Trevor Schnaufer - Pueblo, Colorado
For the third time in a row, the state of Oklahoma captured top team honors for this year, with Texas, Kansas, Louisiana, and Colorado rounding out the top five.
