Kathryn Smith

My name is Kathryn Smith, but everyone just calls me Kat!
This will be my senior year, and I live in Magnolia Mississippi.
I compete in the Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Goat Tying, and Pole Bending.
My favorite high school rodeo memory so far has to be dressing up as Elvis Presley for the State Showcase at the 2023 NHSFR!
I don’t wear the same western shirt to an event twice. (Ex.: I brought 15 button downs for the 2023 NHSFR)
My favorite quote would have to be Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
My favorite book has to be any of the Percy Jackson books!
Rosie, my year old golden retriever, would have to be my favorite pet.
If I’m not at a rodeo, you will probably find me taking pictures! I love photography.
Some of you may have been at the delegate meeting Friday afternoon, but if not, I want to give y’all a little insight on my speech! At our State Finals last year, my good pole horse got hurt the morning before my second round run. Luckily, I have been blessed with an amazing group of friends that helped me find a horse to run that night, and at the end of the week I won the title for the Pole Bending! Without my friends helping me, my championship win and qualification to the NHSFR in 2022 wouldn’t have happened, and this is my goal for the NHSRA: to hear stories of people or watch others give what they have to help their friends succeed. Whether sharing your experience with a friend or online, I believe this can be accomplished!
